Alligator Land

Have been in Lafayette, LA for the past week.

There is almost an overabundance of restaurants here! It makes picking one very difficult. Pretty good eats. Remind me to look into where the sandwich 'po-boy' came from. It is kind of a sub sandwich... real soft bread.. mmmmm.

Something I have found odd is the amount of Daquiri stores. Most are drive thrus! Yes... that's right boozed up ICEE's you can drive through and pick up! Who knew! They range from well established to shanties by the road side.

Wish we had more time to see places around the area.. but don't as well (ready to be home). Rose and the kids have been real troopers. Due to air traffic concerns and my partner and I's newness to the system... some things take longer than I think. "things are going good honey maybe less than an hour".... three hours later. It may be the time warp ... all this history rich area... slowing down the time continuum.
And on top of the long hours of being away... Everyone has been sick except me. Rose had cough/congestion.. then Jamie.. now Cian. And while they are mostly over it they still are recovering. Yes.. it was bad. One night Cian coughed himself awake ALL NIGHT. Each time I laid him down he would wake up. He has even gagged on his own snot and thrown up a few times now... once at a restaurant and once while touring the hotel.... fun. He's doing loads better though. anyway.... GO TEAM!!! Hang in there only another day! (two days later......I KID!! I KID!!!!!) They actually picked me up for lunch today.. everyone very chipper!

Have heard about a place called Martin Lake East of town. Supposed to be a bird roost. spoonbills, herons, egrets, etc. even the alligator makes appearances. I should know I am at the right spot when I see all the folks with HUGE telescopic lens cameras are on the banks. Wish I had time to visit this place and all the historic villages around. Still want to say I've been to the BAYOU!

Will be leaving tomorrow. Maybe pick up some bread and sweets from the Poupart bakery while cutting out (mmmm good)... maybe swing by Martin Lake. One more meeting with air traffic first! cya

Back and ready for more

Just recently went to Muskegon MI. I figured it would be cold and was surprised when it turned out to be really nice. Lake Michigan has some nice sandy beaches. The temperatures were around 60-70... still jeans and t-shirt weather.
During the summer it would be a nice place to spend a day at the beach.

While I was off enjoying the weather Rose and the kids were playing at grandma's house in Texas. Pretty warm down there.

Next I'm headed to Lafayette LA. I don't remember ever staying in the state... just driven through, and that was on a bus! Rose and the kids are coming too. One thing I hate about choosing a hotel is that I'd like to see more pictures. The surroundings... the rooms... the layout of the hotel. The website usually says a lot and the deskclerks can only fill the gap so much.

So we're going to stay at the only Holidome in Lafayette. The selling point being that of all the hotels I looked at it was the only one I could find with FREE high speed internet AND onsite guest laundry facilities. And if we want they have a restaurant and playground/pool/arcade.

We shall see how it is. For the estimated 4 nights I hope it is bearable.
