Getting busy

Getting busy around the Waits household.

Rose has been doing a great job getting Jamie to start using the potty. Cian has tried, but not quite as willing.

Rose has also been stitching circles around me. Even had time to visit with a local knitting circle.

And soon Jamie will start dance.

Even work for me is picking up. Funny how this works. We're supposed to support commissioned facilities....you get more commissioned facilities and there's more work. People are starting to go in and out of the office (out of town). It resembles a beehive.

AND NOW
People are starting to feel under the weather. Nooo. Two nights now Cian has been having a hard time sleeping. Both kids seem to be having fevers and stuffy noses, and hoping Rose can hang in there too.

Stuffy noses have to be the worst for kids to have. All the while I want to just say 'let me take care of it', but I can't.

eeee... and on a VERY different note...I got this new demo for PS2 about this game Shadow of the Colossus. The vistas and scenery and huge expanse that the land in it is, makes me wish I had a huge screen and that they could have extended the view. Besides taking down the huge colossus it offers exploration too. Road my horse across plains, along a canyon (looking for a way down), found a way to the water (that didn't involve diving) and found some crumbled temple ruins near the beach.

Gaming time has certainly decreased for me. All the huge expansive games with deep story, etc.. usually require lots of time AND always seem to have very ill spaced save points. Games I play now have to have a way that I can stop at anytime...save my progress and quit. With family things become a drop everything in an instant and see to whoever. I've been disappointed with games that have long cinematics, becuz they don't help me in that regard at all :(

eh, need a vacation

Hoping all will get better for the upcoming weekend!

Good to be back

Have been glad to be back. Kids are being their unique selfs and Rose is being crafty as ever.

When I had gotten home the kids were already asleep. Cian woke up before I left, so he saw me. Jamie on the other hand caught on quick. Between her brother filling her in and the evidence of my bag in the entry way, she knew I was back.

An early lunch got me hugs, a picture Jamie had drawn for me, and food.

One of the joys of going home is all the hugs, and people seeming relatively excited to see me. The cats don't show that much excitement, but when they all assemble at the front door to stare at you ...you know somethings up.

Good to be home.

ooooh look at what is coming out later this year!

Not so bad

Through the wonders of the internet I can be closer to home. Instant pictures from Rose on her site and w/ Yahoo's new picture sharing on the messenger.

Can play games and chat. Without the internet I wouldn't get great pics like this:

Goodnight Rose

Surrounded by people, but alone

I used to like traveling. Going off and seeing places I wasn't familiar with. I think I still do. I just wish I had someone with me to go do stuff.

I love figuring out things and trying different things to see how to fix things. I like my job... and the work. I'd just like to bring my family along and it be an adventure. But it's no longer like that.... it's not 'where are we going next, why that will be awesome to see.. I've never been there'. Family is getting older and moving and staying some where new every other month isn't fun any more. It interferes with plans. We can't make plans. Have to have someone watch the cats. Still have an apartment that expects to get a check every month whether we're their or not.

So here I am in Fresno. historic downtown to see. Yosemite nearby. Seqouia Natl park nearby. cushy malls and markets. Have to get work done though. Try to spend time catching up with family in the evenings cause they're not here.

Gonna have to use the weekend to finish the analysis now so I can suggest something on Monday. Friday people have the day off.. they get off early. They get to go home. The party stops for me when I go home when I'm on travel at the moment.

I hadn't rented a car figuring I'd have more time to finish analysis, but then I'm just more tired of seeing the things in the evening.. arrrgh.

Took a cab the other day to a mall to eat sushi. Nice surroundings.. nice sushi. But weird at the same time. It's odd sitting at the sushi bar with people all around you. They're with family introducing them to the chefs or their trying to impress their girlfriends. What can I do but finish my sushi and go home.

*sigh*

Fresno

Made it safely. Being cheap and not getting a rental car...as I am in walking distance. They have had 22 days of temperatures over 100 degrees fahrenheit. Those ended on Friday.

SO I get out of the airport and it's overcast and maybe 90... 80 w/ breeze. I have a street to cross and then a parking lot to walk across. I would feel like a wimp if I rented a car. I could probably eat a pretty good meal though.... but that's what taxi's are for.

Been reading up on Fresno history and sites. Would be nice to come here not for work. Some restaurants sound really spectacular.. but 7 miles might be a long walk in 100 degree weather.

Sat next to a cutie in the plane... 11 month old. Reminded me of Jamie and Cian on the plane when they were young. Soon after take off he was out. Then his mom had the joy of holding the 15 pounds of dead weight and not moving in hopes that he stay asleep. Memories.

Need the fam here so they can visit all these cool places while I'm at the airport!

Eating pasta tonight. Delivery. Pretty good. would have wished it cheaper and smaller quantity! $14 and I get a trough. I'm only half done. No fridge...no microwave. I can't donate it... people would probably turn me down. I suppose I could crank the AC up, but then it would all coagulate and I coulcn't warm it up!

oh well BELccCH

Wow.. been a while.. getting ready to travel again

Rose went on another scrapbooking adventure, but only for a day. And today Rose and I had our 4th anniversary. She had it all planned out, which I enjoyed. Our friends Amy and Troy watched the kids for us.

During this time of being kid free we gorged ourselves at Olive Garden... took in a walk at the mall... some DDR at the mall... and a movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

Tomorrow morning I leave to go to Fresno, CA. We'll see if I can get their radar to perform a little better. Worried that the excessive heat and lots of snow are wrecking havoc on the atmosphere and causing the beam to do some excessive bending. In radar talk.. anomalous propagation. Can't stop the laws of science, but can do some things on the processing side.. we'll see.

Tally ho

Made it!!

With two kids in tow I made it to Texas and back. I'm sure people do it all the time but I feel good.

Was wanting to leave out earlier, but the timing couldn't have been more perfect! Kids slept at the beginning and end of the trip. The inbetween was made up of various stops to change diapers... church parking lots, rest stops, etc. Enough to get up and stretch our legs. then we'd get back in the car.
toward the end Jamie said she was tired and needed a blanket..*bingo* .. instant rest stop to pull over and get it. With all the stuff in the car I have 3 trips minimum... *Presto*.. kids stay asleep. With sleeping kids it's a pain in the rear to unlock the door *voila* neighbor just happens to be going my way and offers a hand!! And so here I am .. mostly unloaded.. diapers washing.. soon to go to bed.

Good night
