Survived the tornado
So last night we had a tornado (it happens in OK). Rose was off to Norman to knit and I took the kids to Guthrie for dance. We were on our way home and the radio brought up the tornado... and my 4 year old reminded me I had promised to get her orange juice from Walmart.
We tried to enter Walmart, but were turned away! Everyone was apparently holed up in the back...except for the poor guy who had to stand by the door and turn people away. Jamie was going to go in anyway... she didn't quite understand why Walmart would close.
So we get home and turn on the TV. I figure they will have coverage of the tornado on the ground... (seeing would be easier than explaining some huge swirling cloud of dust/debris to a 3/4 year old I figure).
Well.. they have coverage.. .and Cian is glued to the set. With several trips to the back porch and calling everything a tornado.. we have a little weather man on our hands. Jamie acted scared, but she wanted to watch her movies... something about shots of a tornado and doppler radar images was boring.
The tornado disappeared into the clouds after wrecking havoc on fields and El Reno's 2 airplane hangars at their airport. A quick check of nws.noaa.gov showed the danger had passed. Cian didn't want to watch anything else. He wanted to watch the 'big tornado movie'.
Television programming seems to be the hardest thing to relay to children. If something isn't on right now that means you can't watch it right now. hmmm
oh well We were all fine at home and Rose made it back ok... storm blew over and the baseball sized hail didn't cross either of our paths. (good thing)
