New movie tie in quiz

After experimenting on Rosie's (oops... I didn't know it would change her lion to an angry spider!). She asked me to fill one out, so here it is:

Random excitement rush

While checking song listings for Guitar Hero I and II I ran a cross some new info. I've been expanding my song library in guitar hero II and been dreaming about getting guitar hero I for it's songs..... and now.... I found out about Guitar Hero 80s Edition !!! Release on June 4th! ooooh

oh well. On the other hand the weather is certainly getting better for outdoor activity. Need to start planning a trip to the Wichita's and do some hiking!

New Employee

So today Cian came with me for the afternoon to work. Jamie had an appointment, and I figured Cian would do alright with a computer, and he did! We brought popcorn from home and got ourselves a Dr Pepper from the vending and made our way to the cube.

First he arranged my Homies for me... along with my Kinder Surprise prizes.

I set him to work on my extra computer. He definitely tested the capabilities of it. After using Microsoft paint to depict what he called "atomic energy" I tried to set him up with flash games (flash-game.net and noggin.com), but apparently Windows 2000 Pro does not do well with flash games. Even tried to install flash players, but to no avail. It didn't phase him... he still tried to play his kid games even when the characters were just a tail with arms/legs nearby. The ones he ended up liking the most were "sonic the hedgehog" and "armadillo knights 3".

The best times were when other folks heard the little guy. My boss was walking around the cubicles and greeted somebody who was visiting our cubes, "Hey, whatcha doin here?". Cian; without thinking; shouted, "Nothing!". Plenty of snickering ensued.

Or there was the time while he was doing puzzles (jigzone.com) he broke into a few verses of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The free concert was much appreciated judging by the smiles passing by.

And even though he asked nicely... I wouldn't let him take my old Darth Vader bubble bath bottle home.

After some good hours of work (yes I was actually able to accomplish stuff) we headed back home... each of us with a bag; I with my laptop and Cian with his snack bag. Said goodbye to our secretary on the way out and headed home.

Abilene

Made it down to Abilene, TX for a quick radar visit to a new site. It is definitely warmer here than OK. 85 degrees first day. Cool in the evenings and mornings. Don't even notice the heat because always a strong breeze during the day.

Hotel is run by dedicated Texans:

Ate downtown and went to check out this building down there. Found it was previously the Hotel Wooten, but now apartments. Website even has floor plan. Couldn't get through the front door, but could look in. And no one named Jerry was on the sixth floor...

Harsh climate for things to grow other than mesquite trees and cactus, but downtown there was some different vegetation. all the low trees means you can see for miles.

And as far as windfarms go... this place is going to be full of them! (they sure picked the right spot though... I thought Oklahoma was windy).

Finally .. got to try this recipe in my hotel room. Really good, and a great use of the coffee pot! Way to go Alton! (and thanks to the blog that Rose read to find it)

Ren Faire Weekend

The kids and I joined Rosie at the faire on Sunday (when it was dryer). We saw lots of stuff, but found when we got back home that we didn't take many pictures.

One thing we did get some pictures of were the kids in the lounge-chair merry-go-round. They really liked this. Here's Jamie ready to spin:

We came at lunchtime so we got some fair food. We had one kid wanted a corndog and the other wanted just a hotdog without a bun. So I get Cian this "jumbo corndog" for $4 thinking he won't eat hardly any of it... boy did he prove me wrong! 'Course he surprised me in another way that only children seem to be able to. Upon taking his first bite he declared, "Hey! There's a hot dog in my corndog!". He kept telling Jamie and I this and announcing it to passerbyers. He got plenty of smiles.
Here's the boy toward the end of his jumbo corndog:

A good time was had by all... except all the times I had to explain to Cian that any attempts on the carnival games cost money. Reminder to self... next time bring more cash. (or get good at the rope ladder thing and win the $10 prize for making it to the top... course will need $2 to try)
